Cheating the Nintendo 3DS Pedometer DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGED NINTENDO 3DS SYSTEMS OR PHONOGRAPHS FROM ATTEMPTING THIS. THIS VIDEO IS ONLY FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES AND IS NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE EXERCISE.
Hey look, I've got a 3DS! Thanks to Wal-Mart's early price drop, I was able to get one at the lower price with the free games (Ambassador program).
Well, I decided to see if the same trick worked on the pedometer as with the Pokéwalkers and it seems like it does. Due to the system's far greater mass, you are highly recommended to supervise the project instead of letting it run in the background.
To do this, apply a generous amount of tape, avoiding the sensitive screens, to the system on a regular platter size phonograph that can be stood on its side. Be sure the system's bottom is facing the outside edge. Set the phonograph's speed to the maximum allowed. 78 RPM is recommended. Turn the phonograph on. Once it starts spinning, tilt it at 90°. You should hold it in this position and monitor it until finished.
Reasons this may fail:
- Your phonograph's motor may not be powerful enough.
- You may have oriented the system incorrectly or placed it too close to the center of the phonograph.
- You may not have tilted the phonograph enough.
- Your system may not be powered on. The pedometer only works while the system is on and in sleep mode (screen closed).
